St. Mary's County Circuit Court - The Judge Hansen Briscoe Building

The Circuit Court Division of the State’s Attorney’s Office prosecutes felony cases, jury trial prayed cases, de novo appeals, and juvenile matters. Most cases are presented to the Grand Jury sitting in St. Mary’s County for indictment. These cases are tried by either a jury or a judge sitting alone.

Felony cases include rape, murder, robbery, serious assaults, drug distribution, and major thefts. Each year, over three hundred felony cases are filed.
