Often times, a limited number of units are available to individuals with disabilities. Depending upon a person's financial circumstances, assistance may be available with the rental costs. The Housing Authority, St. Mary's County, Maryland administers the US Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 8 program which provides housing subsidies to individuals requiring assistance with rental costs. Home Repair

Individuals who are interested in making accessibility improvements to their homes such as wheelchair ramps, bathroom modifications, grab bars, etc. may be eligible to receive a 0% interest loan from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Accessible Homes for Senior Program.

Christmas In April, St. Mary's County is a non-profit organization committed to assisting low-moderate income homeowners with needed home repair projects. Applicants wishing to receive assistance must apply between May – October each year. Homes are selected by a committee based on varying factors and repairs are made at no charge to the homeowner the last Saturday in April.

Homeowners in need of major home repairs such as roofing, wells, windows, etc. may be eligible to receive a low interest loan through The Housing Authority, St. Mary's County, Maryland resources & programs.

Reverse Mortgages are an enticing option for struggling homeowners' who find the expenses exceed their income, need home repairs, or simply want some extra cash.
