Special Care Patient Program

The Special Care Patient Program allows citizens of St. Mary’s County with health concerns to provide their medical information by referencing a special care patient number when calling for help to the Department of Emergency Services. Once providers are dispatched, they can view the information and be more knowledgeable about the situation before arriving. This allows for the most appropriate resources to be dispatched at the initial call for help. Forms may be completed for yourself, a child, or any other family member that may require help in your home. Forms are updated annually by the Special Care Patient Coordinator and updates can be made by patients and family members when needed.

Examples: heart conditions, chronic diseases, metabolic disorders, developmental delay
